About Our Pre-school

rainbow

Priory View is a small, friendly pre-school in the heart of the community in the Moordown and Winton area. Our vision is that we all journey in partnership (parents, children and staff) to discover and reach individual potential in a safe, happy, caring and inclusive environment. During our recent inspection, OFSTED found the quality and standards of our setting to be 'good'. We have also recently been accredited with the Bournemouth Quality Standards for Early Education and Care.

We offer a wide range of learning experiences, both indoors and in our two unique gardens - one of which is a nature garden which provides endless opportunities for exploring and gardening. The other provides lots of physical activities and messy play fun (please don't put your child in their Sunday best!).

Our long established, nurturing team has worked together for many years providing quality childcare for 2-5 year olds.

  • Funded children additional contribution*  - £2 per 3 hour session

Lunch club                         -  £5.00 per lunch club

*Children are eligible for 15 hours funding per week which commences the term after their 3rd birthday.  There is a £2 additional contribution per session to cover the cost of additional services which are not covered by the grant, i.e. a variety of healthy snacks, Christmas and summer parties and above ratio of staff for certain sessions.  Lunch club can be included in the 15 hours funding allowance per week.

From September 2017 some parents/carers in England will be eligible for 30 hours of funded childcare rather than the current 15 hours. At present, Priory View is open for 20 hours per week and, therefore, some parents/carers may be able to receive the funding to cover the full 20 hours. Please speak to a member of staff for guidance on how to check if you are eligible for this extra funding.

Please note that fees are payable in advance and can be paid weekly, monthly or a term in advance.

Four weeks notice must be given and fees paid in full if you wish to leave Priory View Pre-school.

OPENING HOURS AND AGES:

Our sessions run during term time only from 9.00am until 12noon, Mondays to Fridays.

We admit children between the ages of 2 – 5 years.

LUNCH CLUB:

We run a daily lunch club from 12noon until 1.00pm, Monday to Friday.  Children will need to bring their lunches in a clearly labelled lunch box.  Please try to include a healthy balanced diet to reinforce our healthy early years policy.  The costs of the lunch club are set out in our fees page which is enclosed.

SICKNESS AND HOLIDAYS:

Please inform the pre-school as soon as possible if your child cannot attend a session due to being unwell or going on holiday.  You will still be liable for fees whether your child attends or not.

If you are in receipt of Early Years Government funding please be aware that, under the Local Education Authority guidelines, you may forfeit funding for the rest of the term if your child has a prolonged absence.

GOLDEN RULES:

A copy of our ‘Golden Rules’ is enclosed.  Please colour these in with your child and talk about each rule to help us reinforce them when your child starts with us.

POLICIES:

You have access to our Pre-school policy documents at any time so please speak to a member of staff if you would like to take a copy home to read.  There is also a copy in the entrance hall table for your attention.

LEARNING JOURNEYS:

Your child will complete their very own learning journey during their time with us.  This booklet, which is completed by their key person, includes drawings and photos to show how they are progressing and developing.  Children and parents can access their booklet at any time and we hope to include some drawings and photos from home.  Children will be presented with their learning journey when they leave the pre-school.

UNIFORM:

Here at Priory View we encourage the children to express themselves through various resources and engage in activities which may result in them getting slightly grubby! Although aprons are encouraged, sometimes children’s clothing can get marked.

Over the years we have been asked by one or two parents about the possibility of introducing a uniform. We have looked into the matter but it was quite complicated and involved ordering various sizes etc and the idea was not really viable for us. However, Tesco have introduced a new online Uniform Embroidery Service and we have decided to sign up to the scheme.

This is just for your convenience and by no means compulsory. If you would like to order a polo shirt or zipped hooded fleece for your child (mini versions of the staff’s tops!) then please visit the website www.tesco.com/ues - Enter the name Priory View Pre-school you can choose which items you would like to purchase.

The pre-school receives a 5% cash donation for each item purchased so……happy shopping!!

WISHING WALL:

Please make us aware of any special interests your child may have by using our wishing wall which is situated in the Entrance Hall.  Festivals, celebrations, special occasions, holidays, favourite activities – we would like to know about them so we can include them in our planning.

DISCLAIMER:

We have two unique gardens here at Priory View – one set out with play equipment and the other which is our ‘nature garden’ where we grow vegetables and take part in mini beast hunts etc. Your child will also be provided with lots of messy play activities during the session, painting, playdough, etc, so please make sure your child wears old clothes as we cannot take responsibility for clothes getting dirty or damaged.

We ask parents to send children into pre-school each day with a named bag containing a spare change of clothes and spare nappies (if appropriate).

SUNCREAM:

During hot weather, please apply suncream to your child before they arrive at Priory View ready for outside play.  Please also provide your child with a named sunhat.
